Ubaldo blanks Kansas City, Indians split series

After having their fourth game postponed on the season due to weather on Friday, the Indians played a four game series against the Kansas City Royals in a span of just three days.

A 1-run loss on Saturday was followed by a Sunday double-header split, with Cleveland taking the evening game 10-3.

On Monday, the Indians closed out the series finale with a 9-0 win that included 14 total hits, two each by Asdrubal Cabrera and Mark Reynolds, three from leadoff hitter Michael Brantley, and a four-for-four night by outfielder Ryan Raburn.

Pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez earned his first win on the season, throwing seven innings of shutout ball while allowing only three hits. Jimenez’s ERA prior to Monday’s start was a whopping 10.06, but following Monday’s shutout win, Jimenez’s ERA dropped almost three full points, down to 7.12.

Cleveland improved to 10-13 on the season and next takes on the Philadelphia Phillies in a two game series set to start on Tuesday.
