As the wheels of the rumor mill continue to spin one has popped up that drew our interest previously. When the rumor came up from Sam Amico that the Cavs were in discussions with a team with a top 10 pick and a young player we evaluated all of those options, trading for Michael Kidd-Gilchrest and the #4 pick was an option. While that specific trade may not go through, the Cavs had interest in MKG last year, and his high school friendship with Kyrie Irving and defensive prowess, and would want to seek out the possibility of adding him to our core. Owner Michael Jordan has been almost completely the opposite of Player Michael Jordan, that is not very good.
A trade for MKG may not be an easy one for Chris Grant and company to pull off, but the fact that the Bobcats are interested in moving him gives us the option. The Cavs would probably try to pry the small forward away with giving up there #1 pick. If they did trade #1, and included either a future first round pick or possibly Tyler Zeller, for MKG and the #4 pick. If the Cavs were able to pull off the trade for #19, Zeller and a future first round pick or 2 the Cavs could go forward with picking Nerlens Noel or Alex Len to complete their young starting lineup. With this trade the Cavs would have a starting 5 of Irving, Dion Waiters, MKG, Tristan Thompson and Noel/Len with Varejao, Gee, Miles, Livingston and the second round picks on the bench.
