Following today’s chat on FoxSportsOhio.com, Sam Amico put up a quick notes version of rumors and what he has heard. None of those rumors are new to us here at FoS as we have outlined them throughout the past few weeks. What was interesting from them is how two of the rumors fit together and could make for a very interesting roster build for the team.
If things come to pass as we have discussed here and @SamAmicoFSO put together on his notes today the Cavs will leave Thursday night with either Nerlens Noel or Alex Len, Shawn Marion, Thomas Robinson and Sergey Karasev. To do so the Cavs would trade the #19 pick to the Rockets for Robinson and the #31 and 33 picks to Dallas for Marion and the #13 pick which would be used to draft Karasev. Earlier today we mentioned perfect situations for the Cavaliers leaving Thursday night, but this may be by far the most likely and best case scenario of them all.
Following the completion of this night the Cavs roster would look as follows:
Guards: Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, Shaun Livingston (Probable Resign) and Wayne Ellington.
Small Forwards: Shawn Marion, Sergey Karasev and Alonzo Gee.
Bigs: Nerlens Noel or Alex Len, Tristan Thompson, Tyler Zeller, Anderson Varejao and Thomas Robinson
4 quality guards: 2 young and 2 vets.
2 and a half small forwards: 1 vet, 1 rookie and 1 Alonzo Gee.
5 big men: 1 rookie injured (Len/Noel), 2 second year players, 1 third year player and 1 veteran.
All off-season there has been talk about acquiring talent. Talent is greatly important but building a team, like the Heat did with putting 3 point shooters around their big 3 is vital. With these decisions the Cavs would also be adding what we noted as their needs this off-season: size and bulk, 3 point shooting and veteran leadership. They would also be doing this without sacrificing any of their future assets and keeping all of their young players together. This is the scenario in which excitement should abound in Cleveland Thursday night.
