Kansas City Royals
The Royals had no players suspended.
The Royals have been a tear lately winning 13 of 16 games. Unfortunately both the Indians and the Tigers have played as well or better during the same stretch leaving the Royals 7.5 games back from Detroit and 4.5 behind the Indians. The Royals have 16 series left for the year with 8 series against teams over .500. The Royals remaining opponent’s winning percentage is .501. The Royals have 6 games against the Indians. The Royals play against the Tigers a total of 11 games. The Tigers were hit with the suspension of All Star Shortstop Jhonny Peralta. That suspension, with that many games against the Tigers, could have a great impact on the Royals finishing schedule.
The Indians and Royals could be considered 2 of the 3 biggest surprises, along with the Pirates, this season. The Royals are facing an up hill battle in a very long season to make the playoffs. Their current amazing streak still leaves them 4.5 games behind the Indians. The 6 games remaining between the teams could impact how they end the season record wise, but could be an example of them beating up on each other. Based on their 6 games, and the Royals 11 games against the Tigers the two teams will be highly intertwined and score board watching this year.
