Following a blown save and giving the Chicago White Sox the lead in the 9th by Chris Perez on 2 solo homeruns, the Cleveland Indians seemed destined to lose. A loss coupled by the Texas Rangers win would of pulled them into a tie for the 2nd wild card. Instead this happen (really encourage a listen to the great call here).
Mardi Gras in September in Cleveland and the Tribe walks off with another winner. This time, for the 3rd time this year, by Jason Giambi, the over 40 player who before signing actually interviewed for the manager’s position in Colorado. The same Giambi that is batting under the Mendoza line, .181 as of this morning. Giambi, who fans and media alike wonder why he is still on the team, came through huge in a game that could of led to a quick downfall of the team. Instead the grizzled veteran changed the course of the game, and maybe a season with one swing. Really exciting time for the team, the city and the fans. Celebrate one more time Cleveland.
