Each week on Tuesday ESPN releases their Power Rankings on Tuesday around noon. While they have no impact on the season, many look forward to their release and the debate that follows. Each week we will review the Browns’ ranking, their previous week’s opponent, their upcoming opponent and the 5 above and 5 below them in the rankings. We will look at how the Browns can climb in the rankings and avoid falling.

Cleveland Browns

Ranking: 18th

Thoughts: The Browns are up 3 this week going into their bye week after a big defeat of the rival Baltimore Ravens. The Browns now have their bye week to rest up, heal up and prepare for the stretch run. They currently sit 2 games behind the Bengals and 1 game behind the Wild Card spot. The Browns have been ranked the following spots each week so far, starting with the pre-season: 28, 28, 30, 31, 25, 20, 16, 18, 22, 21, and now 18th.

Last Week’s Opponent: Baltimore Ravens

Ranking: 21

Thoughts: The Ravens drop 6 spots after losing to their rivals. ESPN notes the limited performance of Ray Rice over the past 2 weeks, especially yards after contact. The Ravens have a date with the division leading Bengals this week which could help them get back into the division race, and help the Browns game in 2 weeks to be for the division lead.
