ESPN Power Rankings: Browns Continue Their Descent

Following a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars the Cleveland Browns slid down 2 more spots in today’s ESPN Power Rankings to #27. This drop is surprising in that it was not farther but there are a few reasons for that.

  1. The Browns are already the lowest ranked 4 win team
  2. One 3 win team is ranked ahead of the Browns but the others are struggling.
  3. Josh Gordon’s big game, which is noted by ESPN, gives the team hope, both now and into the future.
  4. Expect a slow steady decline in their rankings, dropping them too quickly would make the rankings less interesting.

For the Browns now they are surrounded by others who will be drafting near them next year. We reviewed one of the quarterback options this morning but how the Browns finish compared to the rest of these teams will be very interesting. Can the stop from falling to their lowest ranking of the year, #31 after week 2, or will they find a way to plummet all the way down ESPN’s board, but all the way up the draft board?
