While the Jim Tressel rumors of interviewing with the Cleveland Browns have been said to be untrue, that hasn’t stopped these three 10 year olds from making an argument for the former Ohio State coach in the NFL.
Tressel has been a winner at every level, sent numerous players to the NFL and is a lifelong football guy. He also spent time as a special consultant to the Indianapolis Colts, so he is familiar with the NFL game with direct interaction. Should the Browns, or another NFL team, be interested in him for their head coaching job? Should Tressel have any interest in the NFL?
For the NFL teams looking for a head coach, Tressel could be intriguing. His history of winning in Youngstown and at the Ohio State University fits with history of coaches recently successful in the NFL (Chip Kelly, Jim Harbaugh). While the NFL has turned to a more offensive coaches, Tressel’s focus on defense and playing the game the right way could provide stability needed.
As for Tressel he is 61 years old so only a head coaching position or front office gig in the NFL, not a coordinator, would pull him away from his role at Akron. Tressel could prove himself as one of the greatest coaches of all time if he is able to turn a team into a winner, especially if that team was the Browns.
Are the 10 year olds right? Could Tressel succeed? Should he even take interest in the NFL? Let us know your thoughts on Tressel below in the comment section.
