Ray Farmer came out saying that he had an idea who he would draft at the quarterback position if he had to today. We covered it a bit in Factory Lines this morning. Farmer made it clear that it would surprise people who he would select. Today Peter King made his guess in the only comment on the Cleveland Browns in his long Monday Morning Quarterback Column.
3. I think, if I had to guess, the quarterback Cleveland GM Ray Farmer was referring to when he told Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer he knows which QB he’d take if the draft was today is one of two: Johnny Manziel or Blake Bortles. Manziel, obviously, with a very high pick, and maybe Bortles lower if Farmer feels he could safely trade down and still get the Central Florida kid.
Obviously these are two players that many expect the Browns to be interested in. Manziel is the expected pick for the Browns when Joe Banner and Mike Lombardi were in charge. Bortles is a big armed, athletic QB in the mold of Big Ben. Neither of these picks would be a surprise if they were with the Browns after the draft. A surprise name for the Browns would be Derek Carr in the first round. AJ McCarron, Taj Boyd and others could be surprising picks in later rounds.
Who is your surprise pick at QB for the Browns? Is it a surprise due to the round you think they might be selecting him? Is it a surprise because its not Manziel, Bridgewater or Bortles? Tell us below.
