We have been strong in Cleveland Cavaliers’ items today, we add to that list ESPN’s NBA Power Rankings that were released today by Marc Stein. The last we left the Cavs in these rankings they had plummeted down to number 28. Since then the Cavs are on a 4 game winning streak and had two dynamic performances during the All Star Weekend, in Dion Waiters and Kyrie Irving. Lets take a look at where they stand now:
Last Week: 28
Who are these guys? The team so recently reeling from five straight double-digit Ls and the GM’s dismissal? Or the team that won four in a row before the break and got breakout games from Tristan Thompson, Anthony Bennett and Dion Waiters? Stay tuned. (Kevin Hetrick, Cavs: The Blog)
After 4 wins the Cavs shot up 6 spots. Those 4 wins came against teams with better records, except for the Kings, and who are all still ranked higher then the Cavs, except for the Kings. The Grizzlies are ranked all the way up at #9, the Wizards at 15 and the Pistons just one ahead at #21. For the Cavaliers all that matters is wins and loses at this point but it is nice to see national recognition for the recent play.
When you look at these rankings do you think they are accurate? Did they over rate the Cavs win streak? Under rate it? Where do you see the Cavs going in the second half? Will they make it into the top 16?
