This is a hypothetical letter to Richie Incognito following signing him to a 1 year contract as a free agent this off-season. It is written from a insider the team point of view. Yesterday we wrote a similar letter to Jon Martin that you can read here. Obviously these are mutually exclusive hypothetical transactions.

Mr. Incognito,

Welcome to the Cleveland Browns. We signed you to compete for a spot on the right side of our offensive. Your history of strength and play at the guard position could be a benefit to our team. You seemed in good shape when we did your physical exam, glad to see you stay in good shape. When you arrive your locker will be placed between Joe Thomas’ and Alex Mack, two of our veteran leaders on our offensive line. They will help you acclimate to the culture we have established here in Cleveland. If you have any questions they will be your immediate contact people. If you have concerns your position coach will direct you.

Needless to say you must be on your best behavior. While we understand that your behavior in Miami was inappropriate to say the least. Here in Cleveland you are on a one strike and you are out. If Joe or Alex report anything of concern you will be immediately released. If you are able to handle yourself in the locker room then we will focus on your production on the field, which you stated was your priority here. Your success on the field is our success on the field. We hope the opportunity is appreciated and you will work hard in response.

We look forward to you joining our team as we return this great franchise to its foundation of success.

Sincerely,

Browns Management

P.S. Go Browns

Obviously hypothetical and obviously teams won’t be writing any letters or emails. Yet would signing Incognito to a 1 year deal make it a possible win? Would a team be willing to sign him? Would a team have to put protections like Mack and Thomas around Incognito? Would his talent be more obvious when he is more comfortable? What are your thoughts?

Would this not be similar to bringing Bynum? A cancer in the locker room is a cancer!! We are trying to loose the mentality of being a joke in the NFL and we don’t need anymore problems to over come!!! This man still, inside, still doesn’t think he did anything wrong!!
