As 2014 NFL Mock Draft season continues on a few things have become clear:

  • Most analysts will be giving the Cleveland Browns a QB at #4
  • Many fans will be unhappy with 2 out of the 3 QBs, and for some all of the QBs.
  • Fans want Sammy Watkins and Jadeveon Clowney, and to a lesser extent Khalil Mack, due to their athletic explosive abilities.
  • There is no clear understanding of what the Browns are looking for in a QB.
  • There is no clear understanding of what the Browns are looking for in the #4 pick.
  • Fans, media members and the general public will/do pick and choose pieces of information to back up their idea of who the Browns will or should pick.

Given all that we turn to CBS Sports who today 4 of their 5 writers put up their Mock Drafts. Those drafts gave the Browns a QB with their top pick, with all 3 of the Big 3 drafted at least once. One writer also projected a trade for the Browns to get their QB. Lets take a look:

So 2 of the 4 are saying Mosley drops to #26. If that happens the Browns have made the steal of the draft IMO. Fill a major need with the best player at his position in the draft at #26, how would that not be. I like Shazier, but I think he’d also be available at #35. At the moment he’s the only OSU player who should be considered for the 1st rd. I know most experts say QB at #4, but to draft a QB at #4 he needs to be ready to step in and take the reigns. TB is the only 1 who fits that mold, but I like Bortels over him. At #4 they need to bring in some one who can provide immediate impact to the team not a QB who’s going to have to sit a year on the bench.I like Clowney, Mack, OT, and Watkins in that order, Clowney should be gone but the other 3 have a high probability of being there.
