Reports flew that Bill Parcells was working for the Cleveland Browns as a consultant. These reports were based on a tweet from Gil Brandt after a conversation he had with Parcells:
This writer reached out to the Browns to get an understanding of Parcell’s relationship with the team. A team spokesman reported that Parcells is not working as a consultant for the team. He did acknowledge that Parcells did meet with Browns owner Jimmy Haslam last month but that he is not serving as a consultant. Many people then took another Brandt tweet and connected it to the Browns:
Parcells may have met with Bridgewater but it was not in any official role for the Browns. Is it possible for Parcells to be hired in the future into such a role? Yes. Yet to assume he is currently in any official Browns role in his meeting with Bridgewater would be mistaken. Haslam has had interest in meeting with those that have been successful in the league as he tried to figure out the best working structure for his team prior to Joe Banner and Mike Lombardi leaving. Meeting with Parcells would fit in line with Haslam’s goal of gathering as much information to better his knowledge base.
Would you have been happy that the Browns had a legend like Parcells on board? Or worried after seeing how unsuccessful he was atop the Dolphins hierarchy?
