After the first day of NFL Free Agency the Cleveland Browns added Donte Whitner and Karlos Dansby. They also signed wide receiver Andrew Hawkins from the Bengals, who is a restricted free agent. Current reports are that the Bengals have decided to match the offer. Today the Browns may be involved in Darrelle Revis, a wide receiver or two and more defenders. Ben Tate is on the radar as well and may be visiting in Cleveland soon:
For RB Ben Tate, it seems Cleveland is the spot that’s the leader to land him. The plan is a visit there soon. They’ve wanted him.

A visit doesn’t mean that Tate and the Browns are on the same page regarding contract terms or that the Browns are the front runner for Tate’s services. The running back market has been quiet, and cheap, but Tate was probably hopeful that he could get a big contract and could hold out for what he is hoping for. The Browns brain trust does not seem to be willing to wait around. Odds are that the day of or a couple days after will decide Tate’s fate with the Browns. Tate is seen as a perfect fit with the Zone Blocking Scheme that Kyle Shanahan will implement.
How do you feel about Tate? Do you think he is worth big money? Would you rather have the Browns draft a running back in the first 3 to 4 rounds?
