Mock Draft Monday Continues: Dane Brugler’s 2 Rounds

Monday, two and a half weeks before the NFL Draft, is a popular day to update NFL Mock Drafts. We covered Evan Silva’s a little bit ago, now we give you Dane Brugler, from CBS Sports, and his 2 Round NFL Mock Draft which gives the Browns the same player, different spot, then Silva and interesting picks all around:

4. CLEVELAND BROWNS

(4-12)
Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M: The Browns will give Brian Hoyer a shot, but is he the long-term option? No, Ray Farmer and his staff weren’t at Manziel’s pro day, but if you think that means they’re not interested, you’d be wrong.

Like Silva, Brugler gives the Browns Manziel as their heir apparent QB of the future. He notes what many people assume, that the Browns don’t see Hoyer as a long term option. That may or may not be true but adding Manziel may seal his long term fate. Having Hoyer around does allow Manziel to develop. The Browns have showed the same interest in most QBs in this draft, even after skipping their Pro Days. Manziel will meet with and work out with the Browns by the time the process is over. Could it be for the #4 pick or, as Silva has it, for the 26th?

26. CLEVELAND BROWNS (FROM INDIANAPOLIS)

(4-12)
Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech: As the Browns begin talks to lock up Joe Haden long-term, they’ll also be looking to draft a worthy counterpart for the No. 2 cornerback spot in Cleveland. Fuller has the instincts and natural athleticism to be an impact performer on the inside or outside.

Silva had the Browns taking all offense with the first 3 picks but here Brugler has the Browns upgrading one of the bigger weaknesses on their team: the #2 cornerback. The Browns reportedly made a play for Darrelle Revis, amongst other CBs in free agency only to come up missing. Adding Fuller would solve that problem, for a long time. Haden should get his extension and the Browns should have their defensive secondary for at least 4 years set, and stellar.

3. CLEVELAND BROWNS

(4-12)
Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss: The Browns signed Andrew Hawkins to cover the slot duties, but are still searching for a reliable No. 2 opposite Josh Gordon.

Moncrief is a lesser known name among the WRs in this draft but could be a standout after a couple years. Playing with poor QB play he still showed off at Ole Miss. We actually gave Moncrief to the Browns in our 7 Round Browns Mock on Friday, click those words and it will open in a new window. Moncrief has the ability to be the #1 guy in the future, with some development of his route running and catching techniques. He will give the Browns a fall back option with Josh Gordon’s suspension history and upcoming contract negotiations.

Silva went all offense while Brugler upgraded the secondary while adding a QB and WR, which do you prefer?
