LeBron James left the Cleveland Cavaliers years ago, but he never left Akron and apparently never left the minds of those who search for athletes online. Fairly he was also the most searched athlete in 22 other states according to a report from BestTickets. According to their report James is searched 1.8 million times a month per Google Search Data. Kobe Bryant, Floyd Mayweather, Derrick Rose, Peyton Manning and Tiger Woods all fall behind James.
As expected NFL is king of all the sports in terms of search. The NFL is most searched in 46 of the 50 states, tied with the NBA in 3 other states with the NBA only winning New York. Quarterback and point guard, not surprisingly, are the most searched positions.
As for Cleveland specific teams the Cleveland Browns are the 21st most searched NFL team, the Cleveland Cavaliers are the 12th most searched NBA team and the Cleveland Indians are the 9th ranked MLB team. Somewhat surprising numbers all around. In Cleveland the Browns seem to be king (shows in the amount of page views per article here on FoS as well), yet are not searched as much while the Indians and Cavs, in whatever order, tend to take a backseat.
As for James, its important to realize how important winning is to Cleveland fans. They want to win so bad they have had fond hopes of James returning since the day after he left. The writing has been on the wall that it is an option, just enough to keep fans hoping. Even fans who are devote Browns/Indians fans have to look for a reason to celebrate a championship, Right Down Euclid, and would probably embrace his return.
What do you search most for? Does James’ position on this list for Ohio surprise you?
