As the Editor of a site that tries to provide the best coverage possible of important events, while still working a full and half “real job,” I decided to try to attend the NFL Draft this year. I applied for credentials with the NFL but was denied. Other writers, who are Pro Football Writers Association Members, were also denied as the Draft has the least amount of media space available of any NFL event. I then decided I would still make the trip to NYC, with support of my amazing wife, and try to make something happen to get into the draft. I applied via 1Iota to be a seat filler, which I will be on Day (sitting with VIPs and celebrities), and tried to find Day 1 tickets anyway I could.
The trip started with a 3 hour drive from Dayton to Sandusky, after a 12 hour work day. Then from Sandusky, after sleeping for about 4 hours, driving straight to NYC to get in line for tickets. (Original plan involved flying but the cheap/good timed flight got cancelled so driving was the only option). This YouTube video is once it got light out Wednesday morning on my drive, along, from Sandusky to NYC. Join me as I travel through NFL Draft Day
I know I don’t seem excited, but boy I was and am. What are you looking forward to tonight?
If you follow on the draft on Twitter, I encourage you to check out my personal account and subscribe to the List I made of NFL People I Trust. Instead of clogging up your timeline with a bunch of people you can have the trustworthy ones. Add me to the list as well though.
