The NFL Draft is over. Most free agents have been signed. Rookie mini-camps have either been completed or will happen soon, even if the national media is upset. So its time for Las Vegas to release their NFL Win Total Projections. National Football Post has the full write up here if your interested in other teams. Lets start by taking a look at their projections for the Cleveland Browns’ last year:
Cleveland Browns Projection: 6 Wins Actual Record: 4-12
So last year they had higher hopes for the team then they were able to achieve so if you bet the under you would of won some money. That brings us to this year’s prediction. After firing the coaching staff, GM and CEO the Browns added a few players via free agency, made a splash in the draft with Johnny Manziel and added a whole different coaching staff and philosophy. For Vegas, who makes money off of these things, what do they think those changes lead to?
Cleveland Browns Projection: 6.5 Wins
The Browns are tied with the Buffalo Bills, you know the team whose first round pick we have, for the 4th worst win projections. Just a half a game ahead of the Vikings, 1 ahead of the Raiders and 1.5 ahead of the projected last place Jaguars. Vegas obviously has money riding on these projections and puts numbers where they think they can get the most action that benefits them. With 10 teams within 2 game of the Browns in projections it will be interesting how much money comes in on the team.
Will fans ride the thrill of Johnny Football and bet the over? Will the general population believe the national narrative about the team based on how they handled the rookie mini camp and bet the under?
Note: We are not condoning gambling at all here, just interesting information.
If you were to bet would you bet the over or under on 6.5 wins?
