Cavaliers Win 2014 NBA Draft Lottery

Call it rigged. Call it a fluke. Call it staged. Call it whatever you want to. But no matter what you call it, the Cleveland Cavaliers who had 1.7% chance of winning the NBA Draft Lottery, have won!

How uncanny is it that the Cavaliers have won the lottery two times in the last three years and still have not managed to make it to the playoffs not one time? I guess that’s a question for the basketball gods to answer because it is beyond human understanding.

There representing the Cleveland Cavaliers team and organization was new general manager, David Griffin who triumphantly clapped his hands together in one loud smack

at the announcement. Standing next to the first time general manager was Julius “Dr. J” Erving who represented the Philadelphia Sixers, and the daughter of the  Milwaukee Bucks owner Wes Eden, Mallory Eden. The Bucks and the Sixers fell second and third in the lottery.

In the past three NBA Drafts, the Cavaliers have selected first overall and selected Anthony Bennett (2013), Kyrie Irving (2011) and Dion Waiters (2012). It is no secret that Bennett who had come out of UNLV is a promising draft bust.

I said that to say that the Cavaliers really have to make a statement in this draft. I have a feeling that David Griffin isn’t going to mess this up like Chris Grant did. This man has brains and the organization is extremely lucky to have him on board.

By winning the NBA Draft lottery, the Cavaliers HC job just made itself even more appealing to the eye. Kansas Jayhawks  small forward, Andrew Wiggins who is projected go #1  is a Believeland fan favorite and so is Duke’s Jabari Parker. It will be interesting to see what kind of statement the Cavaliers make in June. It seems as though things are looking up in Believeland…..even the Browns are looking good. Who should the Cavaliers draft?   Just like my uncle Chris says, “They better do something.”
