Most Exciting 2 Weeks in Cleveland Sports History?

Two weeks ago today I was in New York City excitedly awaiting the NFL Draft and doing videos of my experience. Today I sit, back at my regular job as a counselor, still buzzing from what seems like 2 weeks of Christmas for our Cleveland sports franchises. Like always there were a couple down (Josh Gordon and an Indians losing streak) but has the last 2 weeks been the most exciting 2 weeks in Cleveland Sports History?

Cleveland Browns

The Browns drafted their QB of the future, Johnny Manziel, and had a high quality draft, even if many fans wanted a wide receiver or two. The Browns narrative was national as they improved their already good defense and added a dynamic quarterback, all while adding a possible Top 5 or 10 first rounder next year. The national and local medias exploded with excitement over the new Browns direction and their hope. The team added more depth in the draft as well as free agents Miles Austin and Earl Bennett. While Manziel may not start at all next year, this writers hope, the buzz around Cleveland is still evident. #WreckThisLeague #BrownsWorldOrder #BWO all have trended.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Beating all odds, 1.7% to be exact, the Cavaliers got the #1 pick in the NBA Draft. It changes everything. The Cavs have the option of getting 1 of the 3 top franchise players in a draft that is supposed to be the best in a decade. They could also move the pick for a star, or stars, to make them competitive right away. Either of those options could make the Cavs more appealing for free agents and coaches. The Cavs’ rebuild could be complete this off-season instead of having to blow it up and try to start over again. #GoodCavsKarma.

Cleveland Indians

The Indians are still 7.5 games behind the rival Detroit Tigers and 3 games back of the Wild Card spot yet they just completed the sweep of those rival Tigers so the #WarForTheDivision is now at 4 to 1. They won in dramatic fashion yesterday with a Balk Off Win after pummeling Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander in back to back days. This could be the series that turns around the season that has been a struggle so far.

Was this the most exciting 2 weeks in Cleveland Sports? Can you think of a more exciting one?
