With NBA Free Agency set to begin at midnight the Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to make a few moves to improve their roster. According to Sam Amico that includes making a run at Chandler Parsons and Marcin Gortat:
Cavs expected to make run at F Chandler Parson (Rockets) and C Marcin Gortat (Wizards) once free agency begins tonight. Parsons restricted.

Both of these players make sense. We have addressed Parsons a number of times here on FoS. He is a developing player still but is a solid shooter, rebounder and defender. He is improving and outside of the Houston system could explode. At 6’9″ he can also play the stretch 4 in lineups for the Cavs that would include Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters and Andrew Wiggins.
Gortat is a big center who has improved yearly and last year, his first with the Wizards, was a great season for him. His offensive game has improved to a good rate while the Polish Hammer provides solid basket protection and tough defense on the interior. Gortat would step in right away at center and provide a huge need for the team. Gortat sets great screens as well and is nimble in roll and pop situations.
Amico’s tweet means the Cavs could go after both players. The Cavs could make enough cap space to do so and make it tough for the Rockets to match an offer sheet, Parsons is a restricted free agent, and for the Wizards to want to spend that much on Gortat. Hurting the Wizards while improving their team is a best case scenario. Signing those two would use up all or most of the Cavs cap space, unless much of their young roster is moved without taking more salary on.
How would you feel about adding Wiggins, Parsons and Gortat to the Cavs as the completed off-season?
