Lebron James Meeting With Heat Over, No Decision

We were all expecting to know sometime around 6PM Eastern time. Then maybe 6:30 or 7 after his meeting was over. Yet at almost 8PM we now know that LeBron James meeting with the Miami Heat is over and that he has not made a decision. The latest information we have is that he wants to talk to his family.

For the Cleveland Cavaliers this is good news on 2 fronts. First Pat Riley with all his tricks, speeches and rings was not able to convince James to agree to return to the Heat during their meeting. Second from all reports James’ family and close friends all want him to return to Cleveland. If Riley couldn’t convince him and he wants to talk to those that matter most to him, and want him to be a Cav, that can only be a positive.

It by no means says that the Cavs are for sure getting him, though Sheridan Hoops is reporting that he is returning to the Cavs. Everyone else has reported that he has not made a decision.

Both the Heat and the Cavs have made the moves they needed to in order to make their pitch. For the Heat that included signing Josh McRoberts and Danny Granger. For the Cavs they moved the necessary players to make cap room for James in trading away Jarrett Jack, Tyler Zeller, Sergey Karasev and a 2016 first round pick. This move seems to take some assets away from their pursuit of Kevin Love or other trade targets but they wouldn’t of moved those pieces if they thought the T’Wolves wanted them.

James is trying to make a very big decision that could impact his family for years and will indirectly impact the NBA for a decade or two. We may be inpatient but the decision may not be easy. It is possible James doesn’t love either option, in that case again the Cavs seem to win as they at least have a better future likely.

I think the signs are looking good. Sheridan is laying it all out on the line with this report. I would love to know his source.
