The Kevin Love trade rumors and discussions are about to heat up once more. An ESPN report came out late last night that the Minnesota Timberwolves are only in negotiations with the Cleveland Cavaliers for Love:
ESPN sources say Wolves currently only in talks w/Cavs on Love deal; Bulls essentially moving on and GSW still not giving up Klay Thompson
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) July 31, 2014
This is somewhat surprising given the rumors that both the Chicago Bulls and Golden State Warriors have made offers and are still interested. Could this just be another negotiating ploy by the Wolves to get someone else involved? The new Cavs hasn’t seemed to leak much of anything since taking over, so odds are against this news coming from anyone in the organization.
Many Cavs fans immediately jumped on this report and stated that the Cavs would now have more leverage in their trade talks. The report encouraged many fans to state that the Cavs should not include Andrew Wiggins in the trade now, as no other team is actively involved. While that would be great for the Cavs, and is still a possibility, it is likely that Wiggins is still included.
Upset fan, follow me here. It is highly likely that the Cavs are the only team the Wolves are negotiating with because in fact Wiggins has been offered. With Wiggins on the table the Wolves have found no better trade partner and have zoned in on the Cavaliers deal. If Wiggins wasn’t on the table the Wolves would likely still be talking with other teams or have pulled Love back. Now the Cavs and Wolves are likely working to make the deal work best for both of them and trying to pull another team or two in to make everything work perfectly.
What do you think of ESPN’s new report?
