The Cavs would ship Andrew Wiggins, along with last year’s No. 1 overall pick, Anthony Bennett, for Love. However, Bennett won’t be joining Wiggins in Minnesota. He’s rumored to be on the way to Philadelphia, along with draft picks, while the Wolves pick up power forward Thaddeus Young from the 76ers.
Windhorst made the comments on a radio appearance, via SB Nation:
“The deal is done. The teams have agreed, but they can’t say they have agreed and they can’t agree because we are in this weird moratorium period. Because you can’t trade Andrew Wiggins until the 23rd of this month.”
Wolves owner Glen Taylor basically leaked the Love for Wiggins deal was inevitable in a story published by the Pioneer Press.
A hand-shake agreement apparently means nothing, because Windhorst also said another team could steal Love away from the Cavs with a better offer.
As of Tuesday, there will be 18 more days to go.
If the NBA is trying to the copy the NFL’s model of being talked about all year-long, the Association’s mission is right on track.
