VoF: Grading Terry Francona

(Editor’s Note: Our Voice of the Fan is back with his thoughts on Tito Francona. How do you think he has done this year?)

I’ve been sitting here thinking, what kind of job has the manager of the Tribe done this year? Terry Francona was manager of the year last year, when he pulled a rabbit, or should I say playoff birth, out of the hat. Now let’s look what’s been going on this year?

The pitching rotation has been a scrambled mess, except our one savior Corey Kluber. It looks like  Trevor Bauer is coming around, he needs to get that one bad inning out of his system! Pretty much after that it’s been a shuttle to Columbus. Tito really didn’t know what to expect from one inning to the next?

The offense has been weak, with Nick Swisher, Michael Bourn, David Murphy and others who were supposed to carry the offense either getting hurt or not living up to their expected performance! The defense has been abysmal! One of the worst in the league.

Yet here are the Cleveland Indians at .500 and clinging to hopes of a playoff. In an earlier article I wrote Tito better get out the smoke and mirrors again. But looking at where they are and the shape they are in, he already has! He seems to be doing the most with the least and hoping for a turn around and some large good fortune to befall this team. He is doing the most with the least and trying to get by.
