Tom Brady and Brian Hoyer have developed a bromance that only a quarterback and his backup could understand. Maybe that’s why the two have stayed close, despite the fact Hoyer was cut by New England two years ago.
So when news broke that Hoyer
beat out survived a QB competioon with rookie phenom Johnny Manziel, Brady was estatic, via the Providence Journal.
“I love Brian. He’s such a great guy, a person, a friend. We’ve always kept in touch. So I’m proud of him…He’s fought through some tough circumstances over the years – getting released here, going to Arizona, getting a little bit of an opportunity there and really has taken advantage of the opportunity in Cleveland. It’s great for him. He’s a great player. I’m very happy for him.”
Hoyer backed up Brady from 2009-2012. Even when the Patriots drafted Ryan Mallett in 2011, Hoyer managed to stay on the roster. He appeared in just 15 games with New England.
