What happens when a big-time, five-star Texas linebacker transfers from Ohio State to a school closer to home? His brother, Mickey–a four-star power forward pledged to Thad Matta’s basketball program–decommits a year before he can start school.
“Honestly, a lot of it had to do with my family. My dad’s health isn’t great. It wasn’t as bad when I left (for Ohio State), and for a while it seemed to be getting better. But now, it’s kind of not as good. Plus, I had an injury that really limited me on the field last year as well…But really, it was mostly about my family, about being back in Texas and being closer to them, being around them as much as I can.”
Baylor and Texas were schools recruiting Mickey Mitchell when he committed to OSU. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see those schools get back in the running now that 6-foot-7 forward is looking for a school
Mike wants to be closer to his Dad. It’s looking like Mickey will take the same route. You can’t fault both boys for wanting to be close to home. Best of luck to both.
