At long last, it’s Friday on the Factory Lines, which means your Cleveland Browns are only two days away from hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers, and with Brian Hoyer under center, Dawg Pound Country has to like their chances.

After leading the Browns to the greatest road come-from-behind victory in NFL history, Hoyer has been a hot commodity this week, scoring interviews with several national media outlets.

Sports Illustrated Peter King named him the co-offensive player of the week in his much-read MMQB.com column and Kurt Warner listed Hoyer as one of his top five Week 5 quarterbacks, along with giants of the game Tom Brady, Phillip Rivers, Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson.

And still, Browns fans have no idea how good Hoyer can be because he’s started and finished just six games as starter wearing an orange helmet and eight starts as NFL pro.

Offensive coordinator Kyle Shannahan addressed Hoyer’s potential in a feature by ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi:

"“Yeah, I think (Hoyer’s) a mystery to everybody because he hasn’t played a lot of games. He’s played four this year, and I think he’s gotten better in each game. I always will say you get better or worse, and if he continues to get better each week I think we’re going to have a pretty good quarterback when it’s all said and done.”"

Cavaliers

Oh Dion. Dion, Dion, Dion. Sit him, or stat him? Of course he wants to start, but he could be so valuable off the bench. We all agree he’ll be critical to the Cavs’ success.

• Updating that Kyrie Irving “walking boot” storyline…don’t look for the former No. 1 overall pick to play. He sprained his ankle and it makes no sense to risk further injury.

Indians

Sandy Alomar could be the manager of the Twins next year. Let that soak in for a moment. A divisional rival, led by one of the faces of the Indians’ boom days of the 1990s.

He also reportedly interviewed for the Diamondbacks job on Monday.

Alomar has a year left on his Tribe contract, but it’s no secret he wants to manage. He was the Tribe’s interim manager at the end of 2012, after the team and Manny Acta parted ways.

Alomar interviewed for the job, but then some guy named Terry Francona became available, and that was that.

• The Indians wasted no time with renovations to Progressive Field, and this time lapse video was pretty cool.

• The Indians are done for 2014, but their prospects aren’t. The Arizona Fall League has commenced, and Francisco Lindor is showing why he’s a No. 1 prospect.

Playing for Peoria and batting leadoff, Lindor went 4-for-6 with a homer, a double, three RBIs and a two runs en route to a 11-2 win.

Lindor, who is just 20, hit 11 home runs in the minors this past season. It doesn’t look like a lot, but considering the shortstop can’t legally buy booze, it’s a good signal he’ll continue to develop power throughout his career. Think Michael Brantley, who hit 20 bombs this year, and had never hit more than 10 until 2014.

Ohio State

The University of Texas seemed ready and willing to make J.T. Barrett their quarterback of the future in the summer of 2011, but an offer was never made. With the door left open, Barrett became the first QB recruited by Urban Meyer, via Cleveland.com.

• Meyer, always the diplomat, sidestepped a question he received on his radio show about the implosion of the Michigan Program, via Scarlet and Game.

• The 2016 class scored a win with the commitment of Cleveland Benedictine junior wideout Justin Layne. At 6-3, 190 pounds, Layne is a four-star recruit.
