Ohio State: 4 Buckeyes Named To ESPN’s Preseason All American Team

After being named the number one team in the AP poll, the Ohio State football team has multiple players gaining their own individual preseason recognition.

Four Ohio State football players have been named to ESPN’s Preseason All American Team. The players recognized were RB Ezekiel Elliott, OG Pat Elflein, DE Joey Bosa and S Vonn Bell.

The Buckeyes will be without Bosa for the first game of the season against Virginia Tech due to a suspension. Ohio State lost their only game against the Hokies last season on their way to a win in the national championship game in college football’s first playoff.

Bosa is one of four players who will miss the season opener, but Ohio State has plenty of depth to overcome those losses for one game while they head to Virginia and come out with a win.

After playing sparingly in 2013, Elliott had a main role in the offense last season as he scored 18 touchdowns and accumulating over 2,000 total yards. If he continues to maintain a similar level of success this fall, then the Buckeyes’ RB could be a top contender for the Heisman Trophy award at the end of the season. He has not peaked as a player, and it would not be surprising if he did in fact win the trophy. Though it is difficult to have RBs gain enough interest and votes for the award, Elliott would be the first player to win from Ohio State since Troy Smith in 2006.

Elflein is a talented, versatile lineman. With all that Ohio State does on offense, whether that is spread options plays, smash mouth football, and much more, players like Elfelin are very valuable. He doesn’t make me say wow when watching OSU, but he simply takes care of business and the end results are many touchdowns and plenty of overall success.

We all know about what Bosa can bring to the table. He is considered by many as a likely top three (at worse top five) pick in the 2016 NFL Draft should he decide to declare for the draft and leave school early. For the 2014 season, Bosa was named on the Consensus All America team and was also the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.

After only playing in eight games in 2013, Bell made a significant jump in 2014. He led the Big Ten with six interceptions. He also had 91 tackles last season with 56 of them as solo tackles! Look for Bell to do even better this season. Could 100 tackles be a reality for him this season? It sure can. Fans would love to see him accomplish that feet, but if he does not and instead improves his overall game that is even better.

Should there be someone else added to the team that was left off?
