The Cleveland Indians extended their winning streak today, but how long can we expect their run to continue?

As a Cleveland fan and specifically as a Cleveland Indians fan, what a time to be alive. Coming into today’s game versus the Toronto Blue Jays, the Tribe had a 13 game winning streak, which was tied for the most in franchise history.

Well, that 13 is behind the team now as the Indians eventually made history early this evening. That’s right early this evening.

After a true chess match and 19 innings, DH Carlos Santana hit a solo home run to break the one-all tie which gave the Indians their franchise record 14th straight win!

Today’s game kept fans on the edge of their seats. Plus, the best part of the Cleveland Indians win was not even supposed to be part of today’s game and that is pitcher Trevor Bauer.

“Bauer Outage” was actually scheduled to start tomorrow. Josh Tomlin started the game and pitched six innings, but due to how long the game progressed, Bauer was needed this afternoon.

Bauer got the win (improving to 7-2 on the season) after pitching five innings, striking out three batters, and giving up only two hits. Now will who will be starting tomorrow? Well, if it is up to Bauer, then it would be him.

The run the Cleveland Indians are on is quite impressive. Everyone has been important to the streak and it just seems that there is no situation the Tribe cannot fail in. No one has been able to succeed against the Indians’ starting pitching too, which is also a strong plus.

Going forward, how long can this winning streak last? It would be great to see the run on-going until at least the middle of the month — that way Cleveland’s win streak would be a month-long. Their schedule also sets up quite well.

Cleveland has nine games left until the MLB All-Star break. Of those nine, only two of them (the next two) are on the road. The Tribe has to finish their series versus the Blue Jays, and then they head home to face the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees.

If things fall their way till the break arrives, then the Cleveland Indians’ winning streak should extend into the second half of the season. The Tribe had their moments where the winning streak could have been snapped already, but the team persevered and finished with a win.

That said, there is a very legitimate chance of the streak continuing into the second half. Yet, I do not believe that will ultimately happen.

I hope I am wrong but I expect the Indians to lose their streak to the Tigers in the first or second game of their upcoming series. Losing such a game also would be the first of its kind this season as the Detroit Tigers have yet to beat the Cleveland Indians in 2016.
