The Cleveland Browns’ regular season is almost here as it begins tomorrow on the road versus the Philadelphia Eagles.

There are many different angles and storylines going into the Browns‘ Week 1 game. Here at FoS, we have covered and discussed in multiple ways of what to expect. Prior to their Week 1 game, I interviewed Geoffrey Knox, the Site Expert of Inside The Iggles (FanSided’s website for the Eagles) for more insight into this weekend’s game.

If you were wondering certain things about specific Eagles players (in regards to the Browns game) or their outlook on the season as a whole, this article is perfect for you. Without further ado, here is the interview:

FoS: Was the Eagles trading up and drafting Carson Wentz the right move?

Knox: Trading up to draft Wentz was absolutely the right move. It appears to be even better now due to the Eagles trading with Minnesota to get themselves back into the first round in the 2017 NFL Draft.

If Carson Wentz is what we believe him to be, and there’s a chance that he is, then you do exactly what is necessary to get him. He’s worth the risk. Franchise QBs are that important.

FoS: Is 2016 the year Jordan Matthews takes his talent to an elite level? If not, will it ever get to that point?

Knox: I don’t see anything that suggests that Matthews is elite. He’s decent with above average hands. Not great but above average. He’s quicker than he is fast. He’s reliable but maybe not a number one option.

What he can be called is serviceable. He can be an important cog in the machine and be so for a while, but he may never reach elite level. He reminds me of a bigger Jason Avant with more potential.

More from Cleveland Browns

FoS: How confident are you that Philly will win enough so that they do not end up giving Cleveland a top 5-10 pick in 2017?

Knox: I see this team as a .500 team at minimum. I’ve said over and over that I’ve bet against them in previous years, but this year seems better. Maybe they’re 9-7 or 8-8, but that may be enough to take a weak division. Then of course they’ll get bounced in the first round of the playoffs (if I’m accurate).

FoS: Who do you see having a better tenure: Hue Jackson or Doug Pederson?

Knox: I think Doug Pederson will be around for a sec. I’m not as familiar with Cleveland as yourself, but it doesn’t appear that the leash is too long around those parks these days.

At some point, someone has to get some time. Chip Kelly got bounced pretty early, but he lost the confidence of his owner, his city and his team. (Jeffrey) Lurie doesn’t appear to be that impatient, but I’ve been wrong before.

FoS: Two part question: What is going to be the difference(s) that will determine the winner Sunday? Who do you expect to win and why?

Knox: I think the pressure is all on Philly because there’s this weird vibe, and that vibe is basically this “what happens if we lose” feeling. On paper, I think Philly may have a tad more talent and cohesion, but who knows.

If the receivers can win and the backs can find some open space, I think we’re okay. Wentz doesn’t have to win. he just can’t throw three interceptions. I’m worried about our linebacking corps, but I think there’s enough there to be serviceable. We’ll know in two days whether I’m right or not.

It’s great to see another view of an opposing team prior to a Browns game. Both teams have a solid chance to win. With each team starting a new QB, the intrigue and excitement surrounding the game certainly is not lacking.
