Which players did former Cleveland Browns scout Daniel Jeremiah project to the Dawg Pound?

Free agency will dictate what the Cleveland Browns do in the draft, especially early. However they go about adding talent prior to the draft is just a building block. Cleveland is focused on rebuilding their roster through the draft, so they must hit on their picks.

With so many options at the moment the Browns could go with, there really is not a bad route to go. The closer we get to the 2017 NFL Draft though, that mindset is going to change.

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah recently posted his second mock. His first mock benefited the Browns on both sides of the ball.

In Jeremiah’s second mock, which the whole first round can be viewed here, continued with that approach. At one, he projected Texas A&M EDGE Myles Garrett. At 12, he viewed Alabama’s tight end O.J. Howard as a great fit to the Browns’ offense.

Cleveland needs playmakers… that is clear. Regardless of the position more talent is required.

With both Garrett and Howard potentially on the roster, their respective skill sets can works in many ways that will greatly improve the Browns’ overall play.

The mock was posted prior to the attention Garrett’s old video received. Even if it was posted afterwards, it is very unlikely a change atop the mock would have happened.

As far as Howard goes, the former Crimson Tide tight end is an interesting choice. Yes, he would add to the amount of playmakers on offense, while also being a solid compliment to starting tight end Gary Barnidge.

However, there were other players at other positions that are viewed as better prospects at positions more in need of an early upgrade. All in all, Howard as the 12th pick is understandable, and is a pretty good value. I just would prefer to go elsewhere with the second first round pick.

With the way his first round mock was laid out, Howard may have been the best they Cleveland could go with. That said, one of the offensive tackles, a cornerback like Washington’s Sidney Jones, among other were probably pretty tempting to also be listed as the 12th pick.

Expectations are that the Browns will spend some money in free agency. Depending on how much they decide on should allow them to postpone drafting a position in favor of another one.

Once we see who Cleveland is trying to and ends up signing, the better the vision will be in determining what exact changes could be seen in the numerous mocks we see.
