Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James is a great player on the court and does impressive things off of it in NE Ohio, which is just as impressive.

We all know that Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is the best basketball player on Earth. There is also no competition to him on the court as he is averaging 25.8 points, 8.8 assists per game and 7.8 rebounds per game this season.

Not to mention he is about to start in his 13th all star game appearance later this month. James must be glad that he does not have to handle all 100 percent of the workload for the Cavaliers.

Kyrie Irving has bloomed into an all star and has a very bright future as one of the best guards in the league. At the same time, Kevin Love also helps because he is a big body that can give the Cavs a double double on a regular basis.

Most recently, Cleveland has benefited from acquiring Kyle Korver who can get a shot whenever he wants. One day LeBron will pass the torch to Irving and it will become his team as he continues to become one of the best players and specifically guards in the NBA.

As great as James is, the biggest reason I am a fan of his however is because all of the charity work he does off the court with his LeBron James Family Foundation.  He has done so much for the city of Akron over the years from resurfacing all of the courts to supplying uniforms for our area high school teams and also paying for college for over 1,100 people to attend the University of Akron.

He takes his entire foundation and everyone affiliated with it to Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio. James is someone that truly keeps all of his promises and works hard every day; Whether that is on the court or off of it through his dedication to Akron’s future with his Wheels for Education program.

The Akron I Promise Network also is important as it focuses on young students making promises to stay in school. James may just be a kid from Akron, but what he has done to help this city is great to see.

Watching it grow for the future too also makes me glad to say that I am from James’ hometown and that I can call him a role model. He means everything to Akron. It needs LeBron and LeBron needs Akron. I cannot wait to see what he  has planned for the future.
