The Cleveland Browns picked up Brock Osweiler in a trade that shook the first day of NFL free agency. Here’s what Osweiler brings to the Browns.

If you had a Twitter account and followed football, chances are you took to social media to blast the contract the Texans gave Osweiler after the quarterback backed up Peyton Manning en route to the third Super Bowl title in Broncos history.

But then Osweiler got a four-year, $72 million contract from Houston, a franchise that’s also been looking high and wide for its franchise quarterback.

Houston  realized they erred in the Osweiler deal. Despite making a playoff push, the team benched their big investment in favor of Tom Savage.

Osweiler went 8-6 as a starter, but his franchise potential was gone. He completed just 59 percent of passes and 15 touchdowns against 16 interceptions.

You can see why the Texans, who were on the hook to pay Osweiler $16 million in 2017, were so quick to cough up a highly coveted second-round draft pick to part ways with Osweiler.

Ditching Osweiler opened up Houston’s cap figure, giving the Texans $40 million in space to pursue Tony Romo, who was recently released by the Cowboys.

Now, Osweiler belongs to Cleveland, and with the Browns, he brings these three things to table leading up to the NFL Draft.
