Despite the Cleveland Browns’ interest in NFL free agency in wide receiver Terrelle Pryor, the former quarterback turned wide receiver is not coming back to Ohio.

Over the last few days during NFL free agency negotiations, Terrelle Pryor could have easily re-signed with the Cleveland Browns.

Cleveland stood by their numbers and as they waited for Pryor, added veteran Kenny Britt. Even with Britt, Pryor could have came back to the Browns.

Pryor’s decision has took longer than expected, but we now know his future.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Pryor agreed to a contract with the Washington Redskins on a one-year worth $8 million contract.

Last season during Pryor’s first full year as a wide receiver, the former Ohio State product was very impressive. It is hard enough to transition to a new position let alone in his first full season rack up more than 1,000 yards. According to pro-football-reference.com, Pryor caught 77 passes for 1,007 yards, and four touchdowns.

It is not surprising to see Pryor leave. After all, Cleveland and Pryor had their chances of making a deal for some time. Still, it is a bit eye-opening that he only took a one-year deal for $8 million.

Basically agreeing to this deal puts more pressure on Pryor. This is a “prove it” type of contract. If he does well and puts up similar numbers to 2016 in 2017, then he will get paid next offseason.

So, with Pryor not coming back, now what?

Cleveland is going to be starting Britt and Corey Coleman. With multiple second year prospects at the position too, the wide receiver depth is filled with potential. That all said, it would be wise for the Browns to look into adding another veteran wide receiver.

If Cleveland could have brought back Pryor even after adding Britt, then there is no reason why another free agent cannot be signed.

Two names instantly comes to mind depending on the Browns’ opinion of the players at the position. If they are content with who are on the roster, Cleveland could wait to add a wide receiver in the draft. In the meantime, they could add more firepower on offense via New England Patriots free agent tight end Martellus Bennett.

If Cleveland would be interested in another free agent, an underrated, yet productive player that would be a fit is Kendall Wright, formerly of the Tennessee Titans.

At the end of the day, it says all you need to know about Pryor’s contract and that he still did not end up back in Cleveland on that salary. Given how quickly the Browns are making moves, it won’t be long before we see how Cleveland goes about adding to the offense after finding out Pryor’s decision.
