The Cleveland Browns saw some of their best players put in the work against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Cleveland Browns were able to win a nail-biter with the Pittsburgh Steelers, even though both teams played poorly at times. There was a point, early on, where it felt like neither team really wanted to win but the Browns came out in the second half and really put it to the Steelers.

One of the reasons that became the case was due to the Browns leaning on their highest-paid players. With Jack Conklin back in the fold, the running game looked better against a tougher defense, even if the numbers weren’t as great as in past games.

The Browns’ 29-17 win over the Steelers wasn’t pretty and it does still leave open a lot of questions as the team moves on to better competition eventually, but several guys riding as high as ever for the 2022 season.

Three Cleveland Browns who saw their stock rise

Amari Cooper

The Cleveland Browns are getting their money’s worth for Amari Cooper. It’s fair to say that he’s torching some of the lesser impressive defenses, which includes the Steelers. Namely because since drafting T.J. Watt, they’ve never won a game without him, but two consecutive 100-yard games, with a touchdown, is pretty rare in Cleveland. To date, the last person to do that was Josh Gordon. I’ve said all off-season he’s an upgrade over anyone they had, but it’ll be the tougher contests that determine if he’s worth his salary.

David Njoku

While his output for yards is a bit disappointing considering how often he was targeted, but 89 yards on nine receptions with a touchdown isn’t something to snub your nose at. His nine receptions was a career-high and his ability to come up big on first-down conversions should help this offense going forward.

Jacoby Brissett

While Jacoby Brissett is beating up on the teams he’s supposed to, the fact he’s rebounded as well as he has after looking as bad as he did against the Carolina Panthers can’t be overlooked or ignored. This offense will be tested more seriously in the coming weeks as the team faces more playoff-caliber teams but for right now it’s fair to say Brissett has looked good. Not great, mind you, he’s still not challenging opposing defenses, but he’s looked good.

Next. 3 Good and 3 bad from the Cleveland Browns survival of the Pittsburgh Steelers. dark
