Preseason star Genard Avery broke into the NFL with a stellar outing in the opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he’s been relatively quiet since then.

That changed in Week 4, with Avery getting consistent pressure on quarterback Derek Carr.

Avery played 42 snaps and totaled a sack, three quarterback hits, as well as a hurry while playing out of the left outside linebacker position.

Perhaps the Browns find more ways to deploy this weapon, especially considering Myles Garrett played but all five defensive snaps.

Avery is awful in pass coverage, but excels in rushing the quarterback. It wouldn’t have been the worst thing to give Garrett a few more plays off with Avery in the game as an end who could rush Carr.

PFF game Avery a 73.3 pass rushing grade for the contest, which is considered good.
