The Browns addressed their defensive tackle needs by signing free agent Sheldon Richardson. With the former Viking in the mix, he’ll play alongside Larry Ogunjobi, while Myles Garrett and Olivier Vernon ramp up pressure from the EDGE.

The starting four down lineman look set, but you can’t say enough about depth. Emmanuel Ogbah could be an option to use rushing from the inside, but general manager John Dorsey also shouldn’t neglect passing up Dre’Mont Jones, should the Ohio State product be available when Cleveland picks 49th overall.

Jones’ stock is all over the place. Some mocks have him going late in the first round. Others have him available when the Browns go on the clock in the second round.

If Jones is still available, he’s a no-brainer, because he looks like he can be a three-down player at the NFL level, as a three-technique lineman. Jones totaled 8.5 sacks and 13 tackles for a loss with the Buckeyes as a fourth-year junior.

Cleveland could ease him into the defensive line rotation by just playing him on passing downs. It’s likely Jones would create some quarterback pressures in that role right now. Brushing up on stopping the run could come later.

Jones is a native of northeast Ohio who attended legendary prep football factory, St. Ignatius High School. He has described himself as a lifelong Browns fan.
