Cleveland Browns Donovan Peoples-Jones

Cleveland Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones may be camp’s biggest mover.

It wouldn’t be all that surprising to not hear much about Cleveland Browns rookie Donovan Peoples-Jones.

The fifth-round pick didn’t have a spring program to impress coaches, but he’s making up for lost time during 2020’s unusual traning camp.

Of all the Browns receivers fighting for a spot at receiver, ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi (TLOD) believes Peoples-Jones “…Is the one making the biggest move since the start of camp.”

Head coach Kevin Stefanski laid some heavy praise upon on DPJ after practice Saturday. He’s impressed that DPJ possesses the ability to line up anywhere, despite his youth.

Grossi views the position breakdown as follows, just two weeks before the Browns kick off the season against the Ravens in Baltimore.

Behind OBJ and Jarvis Landry, Grossi sees Rashard Higgins, KhaDarel Hodge, DPJ, Taywayn Taylor, Damion Ratley, J’Mon Moore, JoJo Natson, and Ja’Marcuys Bradley. He added newly acquired pickup Damion Willis did not practice Saturday.

DPJ’s job status was never in question, as it’s always been assumed the Browns wouldn’t be foolish enough to expose him to waivers. He has a roster spot, so that gives the Browns three locks at the position.

Higgins’ stock is up, and he’s looked like his 2018 self, flashing great chemistry with Baker Mayfield.

Hodge was probably ahead of Higgins early in camp. He’s missed several practices for personal reasons though, so you’ve got to wonder how that will impact his final roster spot.

Natson, who specialty is in the return game, had been getting reps in the slot, which is something he hadn’t done throughout his career with the Rams. Perhaps the Browns have found a secret weapon there.

Will Damion Ratley be the odd-man out? Considering the Browns added Willis, an already loaded position group, makes you wonder.

No Cleveland team has won the whole She-Bang since 1964, but I won't stop watching until I savor in the sweetness of Cleveland being crowned World Champion again.I went to school for journalism, and even worked at one of those things with lots of words and pictures--oh yeah, a newspaper.
