2014 NFL Mock Drafts are plentiful. Here at FoS we try to deliver to you Mock Drafts, later today will be our weekly 1st round NFL Mock Draft, that are based on information available about talent level, needs, fits etc. This 7 Round Cleveland Browns Mock Draft will not be that. Instead this is Jared’s Mock Draft. If I was running the Browns and the draft was today, lets all be thankful neither one of those is true, who would I draft. This will obviously change due to free agency and more draft evaluation but with what we have today in front of us this is my draft. You get to learn a little more about this writer and how he thinks through this draft. We are still using FanSpeak’s Simulator to make sure the draft is as close as possible to what will really happen.

#4 – Blake Bortles

I believe that Brian Hoyer can hold his own in the NFL and can be a competent starter. I think Bortles has the raw talent, the football IQ and has shown enough in college to be a long term starter in the NFL. That is how the best teams in the NFL Draft, long term. The 49ers drafted Marcus Lattimore even knowing he wouldn’t do anything for a year. The Eagles for years drafted QBs even though they had starters Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick. The worst case scenario, realistically, is that Hoyer plays well this year and has to be franchised tagged next year so Bortles can get 2 full years to develop. With the low cost of first round picks now there is no pressure to get a player on the field right away. If the Browns end up having a Drew Brees – Philip Rivers situation, all the better. They haven’t had 1 good QB in forever, lets try to get 2. Sammy Watkins is a dynamite athlete and could be a great get, there is no denying his qualities but with Josh Gordon on the outside and Jordan Cameron on the inside Watkins would be a luxury. Plus the draft is deep with WRs and tight ends that the Browns can upgrade later as well. A Julian Edelman, Jeremy Maclin or Emmanuel Sanders would be great additions in free agency.
