#71 Chris Borland

The Browns again go to the defensive well with Borland. Very few offensive linemen were still available worthy of selection, with the lone possibility being Jack Mewhort from The Ohio State University. Mewhort doesn’t project as well in the ZBS to allow for a 3rd round pick to be used on him.

Borland on the other hand can step right in as an immediate starter next to Karlos Dansby. Not the most athletic guy, Borland is a strong intelligent player that competes on every play. Borland doesn’t have the same athletic ability of Kiko Alonso but does have many of the same instincts. With Clowney, Phil Taylor and Desmond Bryant in front of him and Dansby, Sheard, Mingo and Kruger around him at linebacker Borland can be freed up to succeed.

The Browns first 4 picks have given them a starting DE, starting WR, starting CB and starting ILB. Not too bad of a start so far.
