#35 – Jason Verrett

The Browns have shown a great deal of interest in upgrading their #2 corner spot all off-season and do so here with Verrett. Out of TCU Verrett has the ability to be a standout corner with his height being the biggest concern. Standing 2 inches taller Verrett would be in competition with Justin Gilbert and Darqueze Dennard for the top cornerback spot. He is a gritty player, which can cause problems with his smaller frame.

Matching up with the Browns’ opponent’s #2 receiver will help Verrett’s development. He doesn’t add the type of big bodied corner that would fit perfectly across from Haden but his skill level demands a selection high in round 2, if not earlier. The Browns have added 3 new starters that are playmakers in the first 2 rounds. That leaves them with many options as they enter the 3rd and 4th rounds with multiple picks. Expect them to look to move up if the right player falls there way in the second round.
