#83 – Carlos Hyde

Hyde again falls in the draft, and don’t be surprised if he is there for both of the Browns picks in the third round. If he is it would be hard for the Browns to pass on him. Running backs in this draft have been devalued for a number of reasons. Besides the wear and tear factor that leads them to be off the team that drafted them quicker then other positions, the league has become a passing league. Hyde is widely considered the best of the best but he may not be the top back drafted as teams look to bring in players that fill a niche specific to their style.

For the Browns Hyde may not be the best 1 cut and go Zone Blocking Scheme running back but could quickly develop into one. In the Urban Meyer spread system he was more of a down hill or cut it outside runner. His footwork, power and receiving abilities make him unique in this draft class. There will be no surprise if he is taken late in the second round nor big surprise if he falls here to #83 as other positions are valued at such a higher level. Ben Tate is the lead back and Hyde becomes the backup with future potential, Tate can relate to that.
