Every Browns fan is still buzzing this morning following Sunday’s win over the Saints and why not!? Cleveland hasn’t won a home opener since 2004. That same year saw a young Brian Hoyer begin his freshman season at Michigan State.
Johnny Manziel‘s appearance will likely dominate the talk-radio airwaves, and if it does, that’s ridiculous. Why? Because Hoyer’s leash on the starting job is now about 26.2 miles long.
Hoyer didn’t have eye-popping stats, but he was money during the final drive, and the local kid may just be the quarterback the Browns have been searching for since 1999.
• Good read from Dawg Pound Daily: Three plays that changed the game.
• Manziel did make his debut, and it was mostly uneventful. However, he was on the field and that’s a HUGE deal.
• No official announcement has been announced regarding Josh Gordon, but No. 12 is allowed back in the facility.
• Kyrie Irving won the FIBA World Cup MVP after scoring 26 points. I hope my toddler son dreamt about dribbling because we’ll be heading to the park today, and we won’t be coming home until he can do this.

• The U.S. easily defeated Serbia, as now many ponder the future of superstars competing in international competition. Yahoo’s NBA man, Adrian Wojnarowski, wrote what’s sure to be controversial column, about Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski and how he uses Team USA as a recruiting arm to an unfair advantage.
Coach K is pretty much untouchable, and not many in the media dare to take aim at the legendary college coach, but Woj goes on a full on assault.
"“Without the access of USA Basketball, there’s a strong belief within the basketball community that Krzyzewski would’ve never landed Jabari Parker. Only, he had it, used it and signed him. He’s on a tremendous run, and let’s face it: Krzyzewski is so untouchable, he could keep Mason Plumlee on this World Cup roster without much of an uproar.”"
• The Indians playoff hopes are on life support, and if there is any hope for October, the team can afford little room for error.

Cleveland.com’s Zack Meisel estimates the Tribe needs to win at least six in its final seven games on the current road trip, which includes four against the Astros at Minute Maid Park and three at Target Field against the Twins.
• Jason Kipnis directed an expletive at a fan on Twitter following Saturday night’s loss, calling the Tweeter “a bleeping idiot.”
MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian was all over the topic Sunday, but Jason Kipnis wasn’t, citing the matter as a non story.
"“That’s not a story. We’re not talking about that,” Kipnis said.”"
Someone might be talking about, probably the Indians front office. And my guess is they told Kipnis not to talk about it.
Manager Terry Francona did defend his second baseman, but didn’t condone his actions:
"“He just showed he cares. He cares about us winning. I think as difficult as a loss can be, for me, I was no less proud of their effort last night. Shoot, man. We got after it. We just lost.”"
