6. Gone In A Flash

When the Browns finally do something right, expect it to go wrong. Quickly.

Josh Gordon took it upon himself to prove this theory as accurate when it was announced he would miss the season for failing the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

After changes to the collective bargaining agreement, Gordon’s suspension was reduced to 10 games, but now major questions surround the receiver’s future.

We all know about this talent. It’s once in a generation type stuff, and he proved it, catching 87 balls for 1,646 yards in just 14 games during the 2013 season. But how do the Browns move forward with a player who has a long history of drug problems?

If Gordon has a good agent, he’ll probably seek an extension during the offseason. But would it be smart to make an offer to a player who the team can’t count on to stay clean?

And, shouldn’t Gordon be held accountable for his actions? How would this season have played out if Gordon was suited up for every game? The Browns were 6-4 without him. Imagine what they could’ve been with him. Brian Hoyer might not have ever been replaced in the disastrous Johnny Manziel debacle.

When Gordon did return, he showed what the Browns were missing, when he caught eight balls for 120 yards. But since then, he hasn’t been special. Some of that has to do with the porous play from Manziel, and some of that has to do with Gordon not making the big play (That dropped Hoyer bomb near the end of the Colts game comes to mind). Rumors that his attitude has changed since the suspension has also been talked and written about by Browns scribes.
