No. 8 Little Brother KO’s The Buckeyes
The picture of Aaron Craft laying on the floor at the First Niagra Center in Buffalo is truly a photo that speaks 1,000 words. The Ohio State star is crushed by defeat, while also coming to the realization that his decorated college career had ended in a one-point loss in the first round of the NCAA tourney.
To make matters worse, the Buckeyes just didn’t lose, they lost to “Little Brother,” the in-state Dayton Flayers.
Dayton has a rich basketball history, but the Flyers don’t get the blue chippers and All-Americans that OSU coach Thad Matta is capable of recruiting.
To sprinkle even more sadness on the loss, consider that a former Buckeye, Jordan Sibert, was one of Dayton’s best players last season.
While Ohio State’s 2013-2014 season was marred by the fact the team didn’t have a scorer it count on, Sibert was averaging 12. points while shooting 43 percent from 3-point land for Archie Miller and the Flyers.
Sibert transferred to Dayton following his sophomore season, but the Buckeyes didn’t have anyone to replace the Cincinnati native, and it showed.
