Outside linebacker Porter Gustin (@portgus15) visited Ohio State today, and Urban Meyer got to use the National Championship trophy in making the ultimate sales pitch.

Gustin, a 6-5, 247-pound linebacker out of Utah, is a five-star recruit out of Utah, according to Rivals.com. He has a four-star composite score on 247 Sports.

Landing someone of Gustin’s talent from the west would’ve been a tall order in the past, but with Meyer’s ability to bring in out-of-state commits, in addition to his past job as the head coach of the Utah Utes, the Buckeyes have a real shot at landing the prospect.

Gustin should take note at how Meyer handled five-star prospect Raekwon McMillan this season.. The freshman didn’t start, but played significant downs during the 2014 campaign, and figures to be one of college football’s marquee players over the next few

USC is the front runner to land Gustin, but Ohio State is making a hard a push. Having the benefit of hosting Gustin just before signing day only boosts the Buckeyes’ chances.
