Cleveland Indians: 3 Reasons Team Wins Now With Recent Roster Moves

1.) Tribe Moved On From Chisenhall? Amount Of Inconsistencies Catches Up
The Cleveland Indians made transactions over the weekend with third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall being sent down to Triple A Columbus. Giovanny Urshela was called up to replace him. A fresh face at the hot corner in Urshela, who is a good defender, may be the best decision the team could make.
Offensively this is Urshela’s line: .275/.301/.475
How much longer do the fans and the Indians organization have to wait to see Chisenhall play consistently for a long period of time? Who was the last guy the team could start at that position with full confidence everyday, maybe Travis Fryman?
These roster moves shows the team’s continued belief of getting youth up to the majors, which they rightfully earned, while figuring out what to do with two players who have been struggling for some time.
However, this move was needed to be made and probably should have a while ago. A few weeks ago I could have had the belief that his defense has improved, but if asked today, I would have to disagree.
So far this season Chisenhall has committed five errors. He made eighteen last season, which was the third most in the American League! Offensively, he is just above the Mendoza line at .209, while slugging .345.
The opportunities seem to just be coming to back to Lonnie and I am not sure why. His year by year statistics shows what you are going to get from him and an upgrade should happen.
