Cleveland Browns Training Camp: Top 5 Storylines
Scott Solomon As Good As Advertised?
To hear defensive coordinator Jim O’Neil talk about linebacker Scott Solomon might leave the average fan to believe the Browns boast a future Hall of Famer at the edge. But be realistic, he’s been on four teams in his three-year NFL career. He owns zero career starts.
But O’Neil’s gushing suggests the Browns might have found a diamond in the rough in the journeyman. It’s one thing to talk a player up. It’s another to go overboard, as O’Neil did when discussing Solomon this spring.
Remember, this comment?
“It’s going to be a car accident when Scott Solomon meets a pulling guard or a fullback,” O’Neil said.
Solomon thrust himself onto the Browns radar at the end of last season after he forced two fumbles in rotational duty.
The Browns need a pass rusher and help stopping the run. Opportunities are there to be had. If Solomon’s as good as they say, he should make a noticeable impact.
