76. . 1B/DH. Highland HS Anderson, IN. Adam Lind. 24. player

Okay, now we’re settling into another name that’s not as well-known, and that’s Adam Lind. In fact, no trade rumors between the Cleveland Indians and Milwaukee Brewers may have existed involving Lind. He’s 32, a left-handed hitter, and a First Basemen. The Indians have Carlos Santana and Nick Swisher who can play First Base, and both of them have contracts equal to Lind’s $8 Million.

So why do I have him on this list? How about the fact that he’s currently hitting .284 with 16 HR’s and 61 RBI? How many Indians players are currently doing that? I don’t know about you, but those are the kind of numbers I wish Brandon Moss had brought to the team. If the Indians were willing to take a chance on Moss, why not Lind?

Now the Brewers were reportedly looking for big prospects from St. Louis, and Lind’s only got an option for 2016 left on his contract. So the price might have bordered on steep, but Lind has a track record of being a successful player. Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote about Lind’s production this season, saying the team has “enjoyed the sort of production and consistency Lind is currently providing.”

So maybe Lind isn’t the guy the fanbase would have gone crazy for, selling out his jersey at the team shop, or convinced us to buy tickets. He is however a hitter that fills the role that Moss was supposed too; a power hitting veteran. If Cleveland had traded for him, they could have moved Santana to full-time DH, and played Swisher in Right Field upon his return. Sure it wasn’t a long-term solution, but Lind would have given the Indians offense a bit of a boost and a chance to produce.

So okay, much like Ozuna maybe Lind is another foul ball. A swing to stay alive. This next player though, might be the biggest miss of them all.
